In today's fast-paced fashion world, trends come and go in the blink of an eye (except for this rolled-out-of-bed look; it feels like it's never going to end). This constant change can leave many feeling like it's either hopeless or impossible to even bother looking presentable, let alone stylish and chic. This is where the Bible comes in; it has all the answers, even for beauty. It is a source of timeless wisdom that defines beauty from within. By embracing Biblical standards, we not only reflect our true selves but also glorify God by looking our best and embracing true Biblical femininity. This will make fashion choices endure beyond fleeting trends. Embracing true beauty and femininity isn't a trend but a must.
Understanding Biblical Beauty Standards
Biblical beauty emphasizes the qualities that come from within rather than just the outside. In 1 Samuel 16:7, we learn that “the Lord looks at the heart.” This verse shifts our focus from superficial appearances to what truly matters: our character and spirit. It's important for people to be able to tell that you are a woman of faith and not blend in with the secular people around you.
This perspective encourages us to curate a wardrobe that reflects our faith and values. Rather than conforming to worldly standards, we can choose styles that celebrate our individuality and dignify our self-worth by dressing with elegance and grace. For example, when you wear an outfit that aligns with your beliefs, you are telling the world a story of who you are and what you stand for. Beauty doesn't have to come in the form of plastic surgery, layers and layers of makeup, and tight clothes. Biblical beauty is about modesty, genuineness, submission, and being a woman after God's own heart. While we shouldn't be consumed with outer appearances and be vain, we should, however, always look our best for God.
Practical Ways to Embrace Biblical Beauty in Fashion
1. Choose Quality Over Quantity
The Bible teaches us about stewardship, urging us to invest wisely. Instead of buying countless items from fast fashion brands, aim for high-quality pieces that last for years to come and that can stand the test of time. For instance, consider investing in a timeless piece like a tailored blazer. This versatile item can be styled for different occasions, from professional settings to casual outings, reducing the need for constant new purchases. A quality blazer never goes out of style; in fact, no matter what the trend is, a quality blazer will always fit that trend. That is the point of quality clothing: they last for years and blend in perfectly well with any trend, especially if you're into keeping up with the trends.
Research shows that 60% of clothing is thrown away within a year of purchase. By choosing fewer, quality pieces, we combat the modern issue of just throwing money away. Throwing money away on frivolous items can lead to overspending and possible debt. Debt that can be avoided.
2. Focus on Modesty with Style
Modesty, celebrated throughout scripture, reflects dignity. But embracing modesty doesn’t require sacrificing style. Instead, it opens doors for creativity.
To achieve fashionable modesty, consider:
Layering: Use long cardigans or stylish jackets to add depth to your outfit while ensuring coverage.
Accessorizing: Opt for eye-catching accessories like a vibrant scarf or a standout necklace, enhancing your look with elegant touches.
Fit Matters: Clothing that isn't too tight or revealing can highlight your figure beautifully while conveying confidence.

3. Prioritize Comfort and Confidence
Philippians 4:13 states, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Dressing in a way that makes you feel good can boost your confidence. Seek out clothing that fits well and allows ease of movement.
We need to stop thinking that comfy equals frumpy. Comfortable clothing means wearing clothing that suits your body, and you don't look or feel like a stuffed sausage. Knowing your body type and choosing clothing that fits over clothes that just lay on you and make you look bigger than you really are go a long way.

4. Reflect Inner Beauty in Your Choices
As you strive to embrace your inner beauty, let your clothing reflect that journey. Every garment can tell a story, such as a dress worn at a significant event or a cozy sweater passed down from a loved one.
Building a wardrobe based on meaningful pieces not only builds a long-lasting wardrobe but may inspire others to do so as well. Try going for long-lasting pieces like leather and fur; they never go out of style, and they also last for years and even decades to come. Contrary to the secular belief, there is nothing wrong with wearing genuine fur or leather. We are meant to wear and eat animals; to think we aren't is to think that God is wrong, and that you know more than Him, and that He makes mistakes. If you believe that, then you are not a true Christian. God is never wrong, and He doesn’t make mistakes.

The Transformative Power of Biblical Beauty
Embracing Biblical beauty standards allows us to redefine what beauty means today. It does not mean fillers, filters, and layers upon layers of makeup. While I do believe that a little makeup goes a long way and that a little makeup never hurt any woman, it shouldn’t, however, be used as a tool to completely alter your face. There is nothing Biblical about false advertisement.
When we adopt Biblical beauty, we learn to value our own uniqueness and the way God made us. We should see fashion as a way to express ourselves rather than to fit in. As women of God, we are to be meek, submissive, quiet, kind, genuine, supportive, thoughtful, and overall pleasant, and our wardrobe should reflect those characteristics. There is something truly unique about Biblical beauty and femininity because you are both beautiful and feminine not just on the outside but the inside as well.

Embracing Biblical Beauty
Embracing Biblical beauty standards leads to attracting the man you have in mind and being worthy of that man. You can't expect to get a quality and dignified man if you are anything but a quality woman with absolutely no dignity or femininity. For the past several decades, women have been taught that it's only the man that is supposed to bring anything to the table, and as women, all we really need is ourselves. Both feminists and women who claim to be traditional but not exactly Biblical have this flawed mentality in common. In fact, we can't just bring ourselves and nothing else; we have to be equally yoked with our future husbands. We have to have and be willing to learn the qualities of what it means to take care of the home, our husbands, and children. We need to practice selflessness, know what it is to sacrifice, and be there for him through anything, especially after vowing before God to do so. The clothes we wear should be able to reflect our true nature, our true women of God nature.
