Maximize Your Closet: One Pencil Skirt Multiple Ways

I understand it can be hard to maximize the clothes you have, especially if you're looking to keep a minimal size wardrobe and you want to look put together, with the items you already own. Personally, I love to dress up and wear skirts but sometimes I look at what I have and think, "I've already wore this so many times" but, I haven't worn everything. I was pairing the same items together over and over and not maximizing the clothes I already own.

I decided to make a change and challenge myself by not immediately going out and buying new clothes especially on a tight budget. Instead of picking one piece and creating multiple outfits. Trust me it is possible to do so all you must do is use your imagination and creatively. Being creative is one of the best aspects of fashion in general. When pairing items together one thing to keep in mind is that the items don't have to match, they just must go well together. Another thing to keep in mind is if you're pairing different patterns together be subtle, use neutral colors, or colors that mix very well together like blue and pink or navy blue and red.

For this scenario I'll pick a pencil skirt to style multiple ways for any occasion, day or night, work, brunch and even a casual affair and sense it's summer I'll use a floral skirt. However, these tips will go with any pencil skirt, any skirt, and pants.

Day/Work/Brunch Outfit

To keep this outfit day or work appropriate add a solid color blouse that keeps this floral outfit professional. Go for a white button-down blouse and neutral heels for this outfit. Top the outfit off with studs and a simple necklace. To keep this outfit more of a day look go for a light earthy tone eye look and a shade of pink lipstick that goes well with the season. You can always add a cardigan to the outfit if needed.

Night/Date Outfit

Since floral skirts come with multiple colors pick a blouse that matches one of the colors but not just any top a peplum top. A peplum top will take this outfit from day to night instantly with a few added sparkly accessories of course. A statement necklace will elevate this to a nighttime look with a bold lip color, tousled waves, stiletto heels, a clutch and you're ready to own the night.

Casual Outfit

Who says pencil skirts are only for certain occasions? To make this a casual outfit no work and no date just a regular casual outfit pencil skirts are still an easy go to outfit. Add a different pattern top but keep it subtle like a striped casual top or a solid-colored t-shirt and top it off with a light denim jacket if necessary. You can opt for a pair of flats, wedges, or a pair of sneakers like Vans or Keds. Add your favorite sunglasses and you'll have the perfect casual outfit best for any casual outing or even bumping into a handsome stranger.

Remember before you go out shopping browse through your closet and shop there first. You'll find a lot more clothes and pairings you never thought about before if you just use your imagination. Lay your clothes onto your bed and mix and match pieces together and you'll find outfits that will be new to you. While pairing outfits together add some accessories to complete each look and remember stay feminine!
